The Kaidash family: a story

"The Kaidash Family" is a realistic social and everyday novel by Ivan Nechuy-Levytskyi, a classic of Ukrainian literature. The work describes the events that took place in the large rural family of the Kaidashes. Conflicts within the family are depicted with humor, but the good attitude towards the quarrelsome Kaidashes does not prevent the author from mercilessly criticizing the social system, the way the community is organized, and the behavior of the clergy, which lead to the impoverishment of the human spirit.
